Brunch here was absolutely delicious!! We sat outside around 10:30 and Sarah did a great job taking care of us :) She was personable and hilarious! We each loved our dishes. I highly recommend the crab cake Benedict! The textures are killer on this dish. A perfectly crisped fried green tomato, toasted English muffin, spinach cream, and a poached egg.
The first picture is of our son‘s chicken tenders, which were undercooked and the second photo is of the extremely overcooked chicken that you couldn’t even eat. I had to grab a passing by waitress to show her the uncooked chicken which she didn’t really seem bothered by. A little bit later what I believe was a manager came over who also didn’t apologize and asked if I wanted it remade. I’m not sure why she would ask that question considering it’s not fully cooked and they said they make it fresh not frozen. The second attempt at the chicken was extremely overcooked to the point where it tasted like jerky. We left without eating any of it. My kids literally didn’t get to eat any of the food because both of their chicken tenders were undercooked. My husband’s sandwich was extremely dry and nothing special at $17. It came with a side of fruit, but also included part of the pineapple core… So maybe teach the chefs how to cut up the fruit properly. My berry salad came with no protein although you could add it for an extra five dollars but overall it was pretty mediocre and the berries weren’t fresh. I can’t remember the last time we had such a bad restaurant experience, but this was definitely one I needed to warn others about. It’s extremely overpriced, the restaurant is very loud, and overall the staff did not seem to care one bit about the food quality. Only our main server who we didn’t get to see very much did apologize but other than that, it was a negative experience.
In the bustling heart of downtown Greensboro, The Sage Mule offers a brunch experience that elevates classic comfort to an art form, proving that even on a demanding Father's Day, culinary excellence and seamless service can prevail. Our recent visit revealed a establishment firing on all cylinders, delivering dishes that delight and service that impresses. The true test of a Southern brunch often lies in its biscuits and gravy, and The Sage Mule’s rendition is nothing short of exemplary. The gravy, rich with a distinctive Southern savor, coated fluffy, perfectly baked biscuits, creating a dish both hearty and comforting. It was a clear demonstration of culinary skill, rooted in tradition yet executed with precision. Equally commendable was the veggie omelet, a vibrant medley of fresh vegetables encased in a tender egg embrace. It arrived alongside a generous portion of hashbrowns, crisped to golden perfection and seasoned with an understated brilliance that made them remarkably addictive. A Bloody Mary, robust and well-balanced, provided the ideal accompaniment, a testament to the bar’s capabilities. Beyond the plate, the operational rhythm of The Sage Mule is a spectacle in itself. The service was extraordinarily fluid, particularly striking given the Father’s Day crowd. The staff operated with a remarkable cohesiveness, a well-oiled machine where every member appeared to anticipate the needs of both patrons and colleagues. This effortless synergy, which made a busy holiday feel like any other Sunday, speaks volumes about the establishment’s ethos and management. A peek behind the curtain revealed what might be a key to their operational prowess: an expansive, thoughtfully designed back-of-house area. The sheer amount of working space afforded to the servers was notable, a rare luxury in many dining establishments. This ample room, seemingly designed for efficiency and flow, undoubtedly contributes to the smooth, almost balletic coordination observed in the front of house. Adding to the overall ambiance, the restaurant boasts a curated collection of art, lending an aesthetic appeal that complements the culinary journey. The Sage Mule is more than just a place to eat; it's a testament to how thoughtful design, culinary dedication, and exceptional teamwork can converge to create a truly memorable dining experience. For those seeking a brunch that transcends the ordinary in downtown Greensboro, The Sage Mule stands as a resounding recommendation.
Was looking for a fresh quality breakfast and good coffee and was not disappointed 😋 everything was super fresh and tasty. Coffee is local and fresh roasted with amazing flavor (I drink it black). Ordered the breakfast burrito bowl, famous hashbrown (which was one of the best I've had), and delicious biscuit with jam. Highly recommend it's worth the trip!! It can get busy so you may want to arrive early.
Phenomenal service and really tasty food. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive making for a very enjoyable experience. We got the breakfast burrito and the blue plate special, it was very good. Prices were also very reasonable. The blue plate was a little small but the burrito was huge. Highly recommend.
